Who we are and who can join

Tutor Scotland is operated by TUTOR SCOTLAND LTD, registered in Scotland, company number SC901408. Our registered office and postal contact is 5 South Charlotte Street, Edinburgh EH2 4AN. Contact support@tutorscotland.co.uk for service, payment, cancellation or complaints, and privacy@tutorscotland.co.uk for personal-information questions.

At launch, purchasers and learners must ordinarily live in the United Kingdom. Learners must be at least 13 to register an account. If you are under 16, an adult aged 18 or over must buy access for you. If you are 16 or 17, you may purchase and hold your own £3.99 monthly Tutor Scotland subscription. If you are 18 or over, normal adult purchasing applies. An adult may also buy access for a 16–17 learner. If you buy for another learner, you must be 18 or over, enter the subscription contract in your own name and are responsible for payment; that learner does not owe the subscription price. Paying for another learner does not entitle you to see their answers, progress or private messages. For self-purchase, purchaser and learner are the same person; an adult buying for another learner remains a separate purchaser. The learner uses their own verified account. A learner's acknowledgement of usage rules and privacy information is not the adult's purchase agreement or consent to optional data use.

What you receive

Tutor Scotland provides online National 5 and Higher English practice, learning resources, formative feedback, planning activities and a private record of completed learning. The courses retain separate records. You need an internet connection, an email address you can verify and a supported modern web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. No separate hardware is supplied. The price does not include your internet or device charges. The service is in English and access is through the website, rather than a permanent downloadable licence.

This launch scope uses bounded practice and planning tools. It does not include external AI processing of pupil text, an AI conversation archive, predicted grades, official examiner decisions or optional recommendations inferred from learning history. Your work belongs to you. We do not write coursework for you or supply submission-ready essays or Folio pieces. Our service supports teaching and pupil independence; it cannot promise an examination result. We must nevertheless provide the service with reasonable care and skill and supply digital content that meets applicable legal standards.

Price, contract and renewal

The subscription costs £3.99 per month, including any applicable taxes charged by us. It continues monthly until cancelled. Before ordering, we show the amount due, supply date, first and next billing dates, renewal frequency, cancellation deadline and these terms. There is no annual commitment, cancellation fee or hidden compulsory addition. One subscription supports one learner's English access. We confirm acceptance of your order by durable confirmation sent to you; that confirmation states the contract date. Stripe handles card information; Tutor Scotland does not receive card numbers.

You choose whether to start within the initial 14-day cancellation period. Immediate start requires the separate choices described below. If you choose delayed start, supply and the first charge are scheduled for after that period, and the exact dates are shown before you order. We do not charge for a period when the delayed service is unavailable to you. The £3.99 monthly price is the same for either choice.

Initial cancellation and full refund

You can cancel the whole initial subscription without giving a reason from contract formation until the end of the 14th day after the contract date. For example, a contract made on 5 September can be cancelled through 19 September. We refund the full amount paid under that initial subscription, even if you have used the service or digital content. We make no deduction for use and charge no refund fee. If nothing has been paid, nothing is due and the scheduled charge is stopped.

This is our contractual full-refund promise as well as the way we handle applicable statutory cancellation. Starting digital content can end its specific statutory cooling-off right where the legal early-supply conditions are satisfied; our promise to cancel the whole subscription and give a full initial-window refund remains. We do not claim that merely opening an account fully performs the ongoing service. Other statutory rights remain unaffected, including any extended cancellation period arising from missing information and remedies for faulty or misdescribed supply.

Send any clear cancellation statement to support@tutorscotland.co.uk or our postal address, or use the online cancellation facility. The model form below is optional. For posted requests, send the notice before the deadline. We acknowledge online notices promptly in a form you can save. The full refund is made without undue delay and within 14 days after we are told of the cancellation, normally to the original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise. Access ends when the initial cancellation takes effect; we confirm the date. Statutory requests received outside the ordinary initial period are assessed on their facts, not automatically refused.

Ordinary cancellation and changes

After the initial cancellation period, you may cancel renewal at any time through account billing or support. We stop further renewals; access ordinarily continues to the end of the period already paid for. There is no routine part-period refund for ordinary renewal cancellation, but this does not limit your statutory remedies. We distinguish cancelling renewal, cancelling under the initial refund promise and asking us to delete personal information. A clear initial-window cancellation is not silently treated as renewal cancellation only.

We tell you at least 30 days before a price increase or material adverse change, explain the reason and let you cancel before it applies. We do not change an already-paid period's price. Urgent legal or security changes may need shorter notice; we explain them as soon as practicable. If a change substantially reduces the service during a paid period, you may end access and receive a fair refund for unavailable supply, without limiting statutory remedies.

Additional protection for 16–17 self-purchasers

We do not offer you credit, charge late-payment penalties, pursue subscription debt or require a parent to guarantee payment. You keep any right under the law that applies to you to reject or challenge a contract made while under 18. Tell support if you wish to do this: we stop future charges and review any refund or other remedy separately from the ordinary 14-day promise. You do not have to give a parent access to your learning or privacy requests.

Fair use, problems and responsibility

Keep your login private and do not attack, scrape, resell, impersonate others or submit unlawful material. Do not include sensitive personal information or someone else's private details in activities. We may restrict access when reasonably necessary for security or serious misuse, explain why unless doing so would create a security/legal problem, and offer a human review through support. We do not keep an unused payment simply because we close the service. Statutory rights and appropriate refunds still apply.

Tell us if something goes wrong. We will put matters right as required by law, including applicable repeat-performance, repair, replacement, price-reduction or refund remedies. We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach or failure to use reasonable care and skill. We do not exclude liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any liability that law does not allow us to exclude. No £3.99 liability cap applies. The service is for personal learning, not business use.

Scots law governs these terms, but you keep the mandatory consumer protections of your UK home jurisdiction and the right to bring proceedings in the courts available to you there. We do not require an English, Welsh or Northern Irish consumer to litigate only in Scotland.

Complaints

Email support@tutorscotland.co.uk. We aim to acknowledge ordinary support and consumer complaints within two working days. Ethan Hendry is the accountable human reviewer. We investigate, keep you updated and give a written outcome. We do not currently claim membership of a voluntary paid alternative-dispute-resolution scheme. If we are required by law or contract to participate in an applicable scheme, our final response will identify it and explain access. Your court rights remain. Data-protection complaints and rights requests have the separate process below.

Optional cancellation form

Complete and return this form only if you wish to cancel. A different clear statement is equally acceptable.
