For parents and carers
Help your child practise, understand and become more independent.
Tutor Scotland is a Scottish learning platform that gives pupils purposeful practice, clear feedback and help with what to work on next.
Learning with a clear purpose
Short activities help pupils focus on one step at a time. They are encouraged to have a go, think about the feedback and try again, so the work builds understanding rather than simply supplying an answer.
Support for independent learning
Tutor Scotland works best as regular practice alongside classwork, homework and teacher feedback. It helps pupils notice what they understand, where they are stuck and what they could practise next.
Practice with care
Some National 5 practice resources are created with OpenAI from fixed teaching instructions. Pupils’ answers, writing and learning history are not sent to OpenAI. Practice feedback comes from local checks and is not an official mark or predicted grade.
Folio preparation
Folio Coach helps pupils think about purpose, audience and development before they start drafting. Once drafting begins, the pupil works independently and follows their teacher’s guidance.
National 5 and Higher English
Each level has its own RUAE and text practice, Critical Essay guidance and Folio preparation. Pupils choose the course they are working towards.
Teachers remain central
Tutor Scotland cannot know everything about your child or their learning. Its feedback is one source of support and should always sit alongside the guidance, professional judgement and encouragement they receive from their teachers.
Your child’s learning stays private
We save a small record of completed activities and progress. We don’t keep everyday answers, essay writing or Folio notes in that record. An adult who pays for access can manage the subscription but cannot see the learner’s progress.
